not overweight, high LH:FSH ratio, menstrual cycle getting longer - PCOS?From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 25 Sep 2003 19:12:05 -0500 (CDT)
Hi there, I recently had a bloodtest (for an unrelated matter) that came back saying I had a high LH:FSH ratio. The doctor in question wasn't my regular doctor and said that while sometimes this is indicative of PCOS, that it wasn't likely because I'm not overweight. She suggested I follow up with my regular doctor. My regular doctor isn't sure whether it's worth following up or not and is getting a second opinion. I'm not sure how proactive I need to be. My concern is that my periods have been getting steadily longer over the last few years...I had a regular 29 day cycle, then 32 and I'm now at 35 for the last 8 months. I'm currently not trying to get pregnant (I'm 28) but I'd hate find that I can't get pregnant in a few years time but I could have now if I had known. I suppose I'm asking if PCOS is progressive. And if it's not likely that it's PCOS then is an off LH:FSH ratio something to be concerned about? Any opinions appreciated, thanks, Holly
