Hi Erin,

I have PCOS and IR, and have been on Metformin for over a year....I started out at 500mg...which after a year, did nothing. I finally went to see a Reproducitive Endocrinologist because after having a m/c in August of 2000, we hadn't been able to concieve. My RE upped my dose to 2000mg a day, and I was on that does for about 3 months, but was getting pretty nauseated from the pills. I dropped my dose down to 1000mg to see if I would ovulate on that..and since I was charting my temps..I saw that I was. I continued to chart and take the metformin with no luck in the baby department. I decided that I needed to focus on something other than ttc..so I start to do the Atkins diet. I loved that diet, it made me feel so good, I never craved sugar like I always had so badly...and I started to lose weight. I was about 5lbs lighter, which was a great feat for me..I could never lose weight, and then I noticed my chart was looking a bit different. After my period was late, I took a HPT,and to my surprise it was +. We concieved almost 3 years to the day that I had my m/c. I truely thinkt that the small amt of weight I lost helped me get pg. I was remembering back to when i got pg the last time...and I had been going to a gym back then too, and had lost about 5 lbs also..so maybe there is a pattern there!! I am now 6w5d pg..and am hoping this one sticks. I wish you all the luck..and if you need someone to talk to..please feel free to email me!!
