Negative disgnosis?

I am having such a bad day that I hope that I can get this out coherently.

5 years ago I was diagnosed with PCOS by my PCP after not having periods for several moths at a time, and my LH:FSH was over 3:1...she put me on the pill and since that time I've gotten the skin tags (although not excessively), weight gain that I can't make go away (even with weight watchers), oily skin, and acne. Oh and after a big carb filled meal I could fall asleep wherever I am. However, my doctor moved, then I moved and I've been to two doctors since both general practioners. The first said I didn't have PCOS since my 1st doctor didn't do an ultrasound. The second did bloodwork, said my testosterone was slightly elevated but within limits, said my cholesterol was high but not too high, I have normal blood pressure, and didn't mention my LH:FSH even though the test was done. Oh and I was on the pill for these test so I am not even sure that they are worth the paper that they are printed on. Oh and by the way nothing is wrong with me, maybe I should cut my calories to 800 a day.

I've decided that I want to consult a specialist but since my Dr. won't refer me to an endo I am going to go and pay for it myself just to figure out if I have PCOS once and for all. To top all of this off, I just found out that the endo I picked out is a DO and not an MD.

At this point I don't know if I am more scared that I have PCOS or if I don't. Because if I don't, why can't I lose this weight if I am doing everything right? Why do I have to pluck my chin regularly? Why do I have the same amount of acne sicne I was 17?

Any words of wisdom on how many doctors I am going to have to see before I can trust one? its fine if I don't have PCOS, but I need someone to explain all these symptoms to me. And so far no one has been able to do that.

Should I be concerned about teh DO and try to find a MD?

Thanks for listening, sorry this is so long!
