Hi!
Just wanted to let you know I have the same condition. I have never
been able to find the cause nor the treatment with any certainty. Every
doctor I've asked has been perplexed, especially since it's such a
'clean' type of condition, but I'm not sure anyone has understood the
discomfort of them!
I typically get them episodically, and usually there are 3 to 4 active
at anytime, and they may last for weeks. I have trouble not fooling
with them which ultimately makes my whole tongue feel bruised. I would
realy like to know, too, what they are. It's amazing how something so
small can cause so much pain! I've never had any other co-condition I
can relate to them - they seem to pop up in a similar manner to a fever
blister in that they are a regular, but infrequent irritant that will
ultimately just go away. I've had them since my mid-20's (now 36), and
can expect them maybe 4 times a year, lasting 2 weeks or more.
