PCOS connection with other disordersFrom: Amber (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 10 Sep 2003 10:48:34 -0500 (CDT)
Are there any other women out there who suffer from other "endocrine related" disorders along with PCOS? I was diagnosed with severe hypertension at the age of 16 (220/120 reading.) I've had multiple tests done to determine a cause but they have found none. I also have no family history of hypertension. The doctors have told me I will need to be on medicine the rest of my life. Now I also have hyperthyroidism. This was diagnosed 6 months after my son was born. They assure me that it is post-partum thyroiditis but it has been 2 years now and I'm still taking a high dose of medication. I'm beginning to wonder if this is going to be a permanent condition also. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and have insulin resistance. It is so hard to stay positive anymore...I feel like a trainwreck most of the time. I'm taking 6 different medications daily at the age of 28. Is there anyone else out there who knows what I'm feeling? Thanks for listening.
