First off let me tell you that I will not recommend it to you. I took the BC shot for 2 years and then got married. We decided to talk to my OBGYN about getting off the BC shot and he told me that it would take it 6 months to get out of your system before you would start your period again. Well it has been almost 15 months now and I still haven't started my period. 15 months is a big difference between 6 months. We don't know when I will start. I have tried 2 medicines to try and jump start my period and that doesn't help either. In my opinion the BC shot just screws up your whole body and your body doesn't know what is going on. As far as the side effects go, this is what I had: I only gained about 5-7 lbs although they say most people gain more than that. I also had major mood swings. You know the BC shot makes your body think you are going through Pre-Menopause. Then, my eyes stayed blood shot red all the time. Well I hope this helps you out.
