(sorry I'm long winded, but it might help ya... I sure hope so!!!)

Hun you are soooooo not alone... However I think we are the more rare then the ones who go forever w/out...

I have been irregular since the day I started age 11... After a yr of have 7 to 8 to 9 day periods it went to every 2 wks some times every wk sometimes every 3 wks when I was 12 to 14...

Then at 14 I had a period last for 3 months straight heavy heavy heavy heavy bleeding... I have been on so many different types of BCP it's not funny...

In btwn the age of 14 and 24 heavy bleeder on and off the BPC under various GYN's care...

In 1998 I had a period last from February to August, (April was as early as I could get an appointment) From April to August I was under an OB/GYN's care... We tried a hormone pill (that sucked I had aweful cramps, and I rarely get them), we tried a BCP once day for a month, then the same pill the next month twice a day... I was so tired, all I had the energy to do was sleep and go to work... On my days off I would 17 hrs out of the day... Mind you I was under dr's care...

I got fed up with this DR, and switched... She was puzzled I was on the pill twice a day... She switched me to Loestrine, with in 4 days I went from bleeding so heavy I couldn't make it from taking my clothes off to the shower with out having to clean the floor... To just spotting and with in a wk it was stopped (HEAVEN)... She told me she wanted me to only have a period for 4 days ( I was thinking yeah right) and start taking the pill again on the 5th day... It worked, she also told me if I didn't shed my lining that I was gonna have to have a DNC... So me and my female machinery had a talk... I said you better shed, cuz I'm not having a DNC... I went for an ultrasound in February because I had this mud like blood... and I was concerned... Thats when I was told that I was shedding my lining it was looking good and in a matter of fact kind of way duh you HAVE PCOS (1999) The pill only worked for me for 2 1/2 yrs... I couldnt see my now GYN who told me this, I was only able to get an appointment with the male in her office... Who informed me of the PCOS...

I have had to do my own research, and take it to my GYN... If you don't have a good DR search until you get one... I read an article that a girl 25 in Northern Virginia went to 25 GY's before she was properly diagnosed with PCOS... I have bought every magazine that has an article about PCOS too...

It has been very frustrating, and a very emotional road for me... Now that you found this site people will help you... Encourage you, and be by your side... I have been on this site for a few days now... And I have recieved some encouraging personal emails as well as a post in here...

Read all you can on here, print it if you think it will help and even if it might not... Ask questions and if you don't understand or you see some treatment someone on here is getting ask the DR... I call it ammo, I have always needed it with my DR's The best advice I have learned from here is, Ask your Dr to refer you to an Endocrinologist... I'm finally going to one as well... I didn't know I should until recently...

You shouldn't have to go down the road that some of us have had too... I wish you much success and Good luck!!!
