Re: PLEASE help... could I have PCOS?????????From: Janet (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 30 Aug 2003 21:09:50 -0500 (CDT)
The best advise I can give you is get a good endocrinologist that is knowledgeable in PCOS. Though most of us have absent periods, there are some of us with the exact opposite, the period that doesnt want to go away. Once you understand that this is a hormonal issue and not a reproductive one it is easier to understand why we fall on both sides of the pendulum. The link below is general info on PCOS. It has good info in it but it was written a couple of years ago and there is a couple things that need updated. Primarily, thyriod problems and PCOS do not have a connection. If you have PCOS you are 4 times more likely to have hypothroidism. I take the extra time to tell you about this because hypothyroidism can cause low blood pressure and as I am guessing that you have already researched that many women with PCOS have high blood pressure. http://www.inciid.org/faq/pcos.html Good luck and let us know how the dr's appointment goes
