NO! Depo does not cause PCOS as you are assuming. The reason the side effects seem similar is due to the progesterone in the Depo which is has strong androgen activity (androgens are male hormones like testosterone). PCOS is a genetic syndrome (meaning you are born with the potential to develop it) as far as anyone know. There is nothing external that causes it but often women are unaware they have it until a point in there life when something seems to trigger it but actually just brings it out. As far as the gestational diabetes you had, that is most likely caused by the PCOS not the other way around.
