Hi Lissy, Its hard enough to loose weight even if you dont have a metabolic problem like PCOS. Many of us "low carb" and have found good success with it. I didnt do well on it. It dropped my blood sugar too low. I have a more moderate aproach. I try to avoid sugar and refined carbohydrates as much as possible. PCOS makes it difficult for our bodies turn refined carbhydrates like white flour, sugar, and juices into energy. Instead those foods are often stored as fat. Whole grain grain foods like whole wheat breads and pasta as well as brown rice do much better. Still, for so many of us, myself included, insulin sensitizers were the only real thing that made a difference. I read that you have no insurance. Is there any free or low cost clinics in your area? An endocrinoloist is really the person you need to see to have this treated, but if you are will to "educate" a family doctor or a OBGYN at one of these places you might be able to find help.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing. Janet Heller

PS:Just had a thought. Where do you go to school at??? Most colleges have a heath center with doctors that come in at least once a week and there is usually no charge for students. Not the best solution to your problem but if you talk to the Health Center personell you might find a real low cost solution to your problems.
