Bloating for 3 weeks before periodFrom: Mom2aDog (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 26 Aug 2003 19:56:04 -0500 (CDT)
Hi All, One of my PCOS symptoms (and this has gotten worse lately) is that about 2 weeks after my last period I get totally bloated. I look like I'm 9 months pregnant (I normally look like I'm 5 months pregnant). My bras are tight too. This lasts for upwards of 3 weeks or more until I finally, finally get a period. My cycle runs infrequently, with periods coming about every 8 to 10 weeks or so. I wondered if I was the only one who is having this problem. Also, my hair has continued to thin over the last couple years. It's really bad now. I've been taking Aldactone since 1992. I also take Zoloft and Lipitor. My mother, who is on Zoloft, thinks that is what is causing the thinning hair as she has it too. Anyway, I was on Metformin XR and got lazy about taking (yet more) pills and haven't taken any for many months now. I need to go back on it. I felt fine on Met XR after suffering through a year on the regular Metformin. Anyone know if Metformin helps the bloating? What about the thinning hair? My thyroid checked out normal during my last blood test (about 6 months ago). thanks for any info.
