Re: feeling worse after glucophageFrom: Mom2aDog (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 26 Aug 2003 19:47:58 -0500 (CDT)
Several years ago I asked my doc to put me on Metformin (this was before there was an XR version). OMG, did I feel bad on it. I would eat and occasionally get very nauseous. I literally ran out of two different people's houses right after dinner parties to get home quickly as I was so sick and had broken out in a cold sweat (you know THAT feeling). So embarrassing and of course I called them back to explain that I was on a medication that was making me ill. Finally switched to the XR version and that was like night and day. I got lazy about taking all the pills and went off of Glucophage XR about a year ago. I really need to go back on it as my PCOS is truly bad and I guess I'll start off SLOWLY and slowly raise the level to my previous dosage (2,000 mg per day). I'm thinking 500 mg is an okay place to start (maybe I'll do 250 mg for a few days first if I can cut the pill that small).
