Re: New PCOS diagnosisFrom: Janet (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 19 Aug 2003 22:02:08 -0500 (CDT)
Click here for some good info on PCOS Has info on what PCOS is, what test should be done, and what you bloodwork numbers should be. http://www.inciid.org/faq/pcos.html Have you considered seeing an endocrinologist? PCOS is a hormonal and not a reproducitve problem. The issues of infertility are a product of hormones that are askew, often becasue of insulin issues. Endos specialize in this. You are trying to have a baby so if there is a reproductive endocrinologist in your area, even better, but not neccessary for proper treatment. As for clomid being the next step, there are many of us out here that have gotten pregnant using insulin sensitizers such as glucophase or avandia. High insulin levels often cause the hormonal imbalances that occur with women that have PCOS. The idea is that you get the insulin in check, the hormones straighten out in the proccess. Doesnt happen over night. Some women can take up to a year for this to occur before they are put on fertility drugs. Hope that gets you a good start to understanding this compicated problem. Feel free to email me personally if you have any more questions
