Hi Melissa, No, that doesent sound all that bad of an idea. Most of my issues with metformin in the beginning were diareha and not heartburn or acid reflux but, it is possible that it might bother you. I do have a suggestion though. What about another insulin sensitizer like avandia/actos??? I'm told that it doesnt seem to produce as much weight loss as met/gluc, but it isnt as hard on the stomach. The good thing is though that she is willing to give you the metformin. Wether you want to wait a few weeks to see if your acid reflux improves or suggest another insulin sensitizer is up to you.
