The doctors told me the same thing. Don't worry about it they said. This gets me so angry. You are young the will regulate as you get older. Don't listen to them. Find a new doctor. Try to go to an Endocrinologist. Because I did not take charge of my PCOS when I was young I am suffering the consequences now. I had endometrial cancer when I was 25.If you let you lining buildup it will cause cancer. When I was your age I only had 3-4 periods per year & then around 23 they just stopped. I had gone to several different GYNO's and not one told me I had PCOS or even mentioned it. I diagnosed myself from a TV show. There answer was to take Birth control pills. I do not do well on BCP's. I do not believe they are the answer. I am also overweight, losing my hair, excessive facial hair, acne and I feel crappy all the time. I am 30 now. I was 10 when I started menstruating, I believe I have had PCOS all my life! Do lot & lots of your own research. Be firm with the docs & present your case. Take charge of your PCOS now. Hightail it to a new doctor. I don't mean to scare you but I would do anything to be your age and know the things I know now about PCOS. feel free to email me privately if you would like.
