Hair LossFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 10 Aug 2003 01:49:26 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Everyone, Ok, I first posted this message as a reply to the question about Power Plus for hair, but I'm not sure if it posted or if I did it correctly, so I'm sorry if this is showing up more than once! I'm new at this whole thing! If anyone can help me out with their experience with hair loss and successful remedies, I would be so grateful! I am experiencing severe hair loss with my PCOS... my hair falls out everywhere, mainly in the shower- which is where it is the worst, but also while I am combing/brushing or styling it and throughout the day (my friends, who don't know I have PCOS, constantly ask me why I'm "shedding so much")... I am going to try Aldactone (Spironolactone), which was just prescribed for me, and Rogaine, which was recommended.... but I was concerned by what was said in a reply about Power Plus about birth defects and being unable to conceive... I am still young, I am only 20, but I am getting married in a year or so and I really want to have kids while I am still young so that my children can enjoy their grandparents... I understand that PCOS causes problems with fertility and I am currently on Zovia to regulate my periods... But my main concern right now is my hair loss!! And as far as the Spironolactone, are there any side effects that anyone has had? I read up on it and saw that a rare side effect was a deepening of the voice.... has anyone experienced that? and if so, to what extent? By the way, I've never heard of Power Plus... However, I have also heard that Pre-natal vitamins work wonders for hair loss since pregnant women often suffer from thinning hair? Does anyone know of any truth behind this? Thanks!
