Actually, the exact cause of PCOS is unknown. Most doctors you visit
know very little about the disorder. Hence the frustration I’ve read in
so many people's posts and on so many websites. In fact, the name
itself is a misrepresentation of the syndrome. They know it has to do
with, in laymen's terms, a miscommunication within the endocrine system.
Although some PCOS most likely is genetic, I am currently trying to
gather information on the link between a certain type of herbicide that
acts as an Endocrine Disrupter. This Herbicide is used on over 90% of
corn crops in the US, as well as many other types of agricultural
products, lawns, and golf courses. Right now we are looking for people
who had wells because that is the easiest way to track the build up of
the herbicide in ground water. However, run off from this herbicide has
contaminated more than just wells. It is everywhere. So, right now, we
are trying to assess the possibility of a correlation between the
herbicide run off and endocrine-related disorders such as PCOS. I want
to thank all of you who have already contacted me, and if you know of
anyone else, please encourage them to do so as well. My email should be
below. Hopefully we will soon have a website up, I’ll post the address
if and when we get it.
