My RE recommended I stay on Metformin for the 1st trimester of pregnancy. I'm
now at 13 weeks and was taken off the medication at 12 weeks. Last time, I
was taken of Metformin when I found out I was preg and miscarried at 10 wks.
My current RE says Metformin can help prevent early miscarriage. And, I've
been told that they know that babies whose mothers are on Metformin for the
entire pregnancy do not have birth defects, however they do not know if there
are any long term effects of the medication on the child - there just have
not been enough case studies yet.
Good Luck!
