What articles? All I've read has said that taking the Metformin into the 2nd trimester increases the chances of a healthy delivery. Did I miss something? ------------------------- Subject: Pregnant - should I continue use of Metformin or go on ------------------------- Insulin? ------------------------- Message-ID: <200308061921.h76JLdF16795@dns.obgyn.net>

Doctors and Ladies,

I had a positive HPT and scheduled to go into do bloodwork in a day or two. I've been taking Metformin for 3-4 months as I'm insulin resistant. Had higher blood glucose levels in my last pregnancy which ended in fetal demise at 21 weeks. At that time I was taking insulin. TO regulate my glucose levels after D&E, endo put me on Metformin 500mg, 3 times a day.

Now I am having difficulty making the choice of staying on Metformin (which is definitely less stressful than being on insulin) and seems the logical choice because I am producing enough insulin but utilization is not happening. However after coming across so many articles on the safety of the drug, I am unsure. Doctor's and fellow PCOSers Please help!!!

Thanks, Anna
