Re: To Be or Not to Be on MetforminFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 4 Aug 2003 16:40:33 -0500
I am pregnant after 4 months taking 1500mg Met daily. I did low-carb and lost 25lbs. I still have 30 to go but will have to wait. Once you cut out alot of the carbs the diarrhea will let off a little. Hang in there and DO NOT GIVE UP! I had doctors and co-worker tell me to and I refused to. I now have my due date of 04/04/04. Things changed in my life, basically-- I got married last October and would like to start a family. I was taking met for about 2 mos and I could not deal with the side effects, I had constant diarrhea and sometimes I couldn't even make it home and had to get off the train, it was a nitemare. I think the worst side effect for me was, after having almost regular cycles for the past year, the month I started met, my period came 15 days late and then I completely skipped the next month. This really confuses me because I hear all about women getting their period when on met. I really want to get pregnant and I wonder if being on met is the only way for me. I started taking my temp and tracking my bbt and I am hoping this helps..not sure how to do this yet. Should I go back on met and deal with the side effects in order to get pregnant? Can I do anything else? Thanks in advance, Maria
