Luteal Phase

Hi all,

I have been visiting the http://www.fertilityfriend.com website to get info about BBT (Basal Body temperature) as a means of monitoring my fertility. I am currently taking 1500mg/daily of glucophage XR with still somewhat irregular menses.

It talks about the luteal phase and the affects it has on sustaining a pregnancy--- I think it indicates that if this phase is too long you would miscarry. Can someone explain this is laymen terminology? Is the long/short luteal phase part of PCOS?

I have one child (now 7) and was pregnant a second time 3 years ago but miscarried at 8 weeks. The doctor indicated that my progesterone levels were probably to blame. Is this also part of a long/short luteal phase and/or PCOS?

Thanks!
