Newly diagnosed and heart problemsFrom: Jeni (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 1 Aug 2003 17:59:08 -0500 (CDT)
Hi everyone, I have known for a long time that I was not the same as my friends and luckily I have recently realised why ~ I'm part of the wonderful world of PCOS !!!! I'm 24 and was diagnosed this month after finally getting a fantastic GP. FOR YEARS my GP's have been telling me that it's just 'growing pains'~ yeeeeaah ! right ! Anyway, after my diagnosis I was relieved that I would finally get some treatment ( having a five o'clock shadow does nothing for my dating skills!) so I relaxed until I could see the specialist............. I should have known better. A week later I was in Accident and Emergency with aortal fibrilation. My heartrate was shooting up and down like it was on a racetrack! So I spent a few days in hospital playing etch-a-sketch with the heart monitor and they put me on beta blockers and sent me home. My heart has now settled down but I can't get any treatment for my PCOS until I've sorted the stuff out with the cardiologist. I'm so bugged , I can't get any advice on my diet or anything because I can't have an appointment with the endocrinologist because there's no point! I was wondering if anyone else has experienced any problems with their heart they think my be related to the syndrome. There is some evidence of correlation hinted at on some sites but I can't find anything concrete. Does anyone know any better, I would like to go in to see my cardiologist armed to the teeth if there is any evidence because I'm sick of messing around. I want to get started on getting my balance right. Anyway, I would realy appreciate any info people can send to me. I would especially like Stories or tales of any fast or irregular heartbeats (not drug induced) or any studies you have heard of. I would also like diet advice and complimentary medicines & vitamins I can quiz my doc about. jenn20_uk@hotmail.com Thanks for reading this love jen x
