Aldactone is a drug originally (and still mainly) used to treat hypertension by flushing excess water out of the body while leaving the salts (like potassium) your body needs behind. They have discovered that Aldactone has the effect of blocking or tying up excess testosterone in the body as well; so women with PCOS often take it to help control symptoms of excess testosterone (like facial hair or acne) when methods to reduce testosterone production aren't working as well as they should. It is a very powerful drug and can cause serious birth defects if you become pregnant while taking aldactone, so you MUST use birth control while taking this medication.

Dexamethasone is a type of steroid medication, similar to cortisol. It is mainly used as an anti-inflammatory and immune suppressant.
