I started Atkins the same day I started 1000 mg Metformin twice a day. Had no problems for 2 days, then the nausea, diarrhea, stomach cramps, fatigue, and hot flashes began. Have been on for 11 days now and it is started to affect my work performance also. I'm willing to try anything at this point. Not sure if it is all metformin or if Atkin's diet (25 carbs or less per day) is contributing also. I was able to get a blood sugar level this weekend during the symptoms and it was 70. Seems to me that symptoms really come on right as I am about to eat. Of course, diarrhea lasts longer. I am glad Atkin's worked for you though Tammy Jo. Way to go!
