Don't give up hope! I had to change Dr's five times before I found one
that would prescribe metformin even with a preexisting diagnosis of
PCOS. I suggest calling drs on your health plan or in your area and
asking them how they would treat PCOS, and if they would consider using
metformin because research supports it even though it isn't fda approved
for pcos yet. offer to bring in research (find and print on the
internet) and keep calling until you find someone that knows how to
treat a pcos patient. If they tell you they would send you to a
gynocologist and don't mention an endocrinologist in a preliminary talk,
then you know that they're not very well versed with PCOS and you should
call someone else.
