Dovonex Cream... Anyone heard of it???From: Hannah (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 28 Jul 2003 13:38:09 -0500 (CDT)
After finding this forum on the internet last night, I went to the Drs today to discuss the probability of me having PCOS... I showed him all the research I have done and showed him my Acanthosis Nigracans (at which he recoiled!!!) and he told me that there was nothing that could be done with me. I explained that my husband and I were planning to start a family and he just said that women with PCOS do conceive eventually and that there was no long term risk to me if I do have it. He also refused to start me on any medication that you guys have mentioned for my Acanthosis and when I suggested that I should be tested for diabetes he laughed in my face! He finally agreed that he would refer me to a dermatologist (but no other dept.), gave me some 'Calcipotriol' Dovonex Cream (does it work?)and told me I should not bother him again. I am at my wits end! Has anyone else had these types of probs in the UK and do they know any good hospitals I can try as the dermatologist I went to before (three times over the last 7 years) about the AN failed to pick up on any of the other signs I have... though I blatantly am overweight etc... Please help... i am really worried. Hannah
