Well, it's just my opinion but I think the best way to save yourself some time, frustration and money is to insist to speak with a doctor BEFORE you make an appointment. That way you can ask if they know anything about PCOS, or if they're stuck on the "don't worry your pretty little head and just lose some weight" attitude before you see them. I've done it and it really does remove a lot of the stress and heartache. Granted a few doctors may refuse to return your calls--but do you want to go to a doctor like that anyway?

Start calling every reproductive endocrinologist that takes whatever insurance you have until you find one that will explain their treatment philosophy and AFTER that make your appointment. Don't waste time, and tears, and money on a doctor that is only interested in patronizing you and then billing you for the abuse.
