Sorry to hear your frustration...know what the frustration is like...

I don't know much about the meds you are taking, but I can comment on the diet. I agree with the no sweets (including soda) b/c it leads to extra "empty" calories, which get converted to glycogen, which if it exceeds the body's storage capacity gets turned into fat = weight gain. Another thing to cut out would be saturated or hydrogenated fats; they clog arteries = heart problems. Oils, esp. olive, are better to use compared to butter/margerine due to unsaturation. Oils may also provide other benefits, but can't remember any at the moment. As far as the no carbs...if you do cut back, keep the high-finber carbs, get rid of the low nutrition carbs. Low nutrition carbs include white bread, white rice, pasta, and alcohol. High-fiber carbs include whole grain foods (ex. whole-wheat bread and whole grain bran and oat cereals), legumes (beans), and fruits and veggies. Exercising is important as it will help to reduce the size of the fat cells = Losing weight = Good. Exercising has other benefits, including reducing the risk of heart disease nd stroke, which obesity has been linked to. There are numerous perks for taking care of your body, both via diet and exercise. Don't get discouraged, as even a pound is a small victory. Just so you know that you are not alone, one of my frieds who weighs close to 200lbs has always had a difficult time losing weight, but she is trying the best she can do.

Hope this helps...just so you know, all I did was cut back on the sweets and probably a few other modifications over a period of three months and wound up losing ~40lbs, and would like to lose another 20-25 (though that will be difficult). Cutting back on sweets goes a long way. Haven't been able to exercise though b/c of pelvic pain. That is verty frustrating when you want to exercise and you can't. By the way, I don't really know your situation too well, so take what you think would apply to you and it is best to get a good relationship with your doctor...both your goals should be to keep you as healthy as possible.
