I have also dealt with major depression for years and would just like to
say that in my experience you have to be really careful about which meds
you go on for it. ( i know that everyone responds differently) but in
my instance effexor made everything WORSE. i mean that i had never
actually been suicidal or anything, just run of the mill depression if
there is such a thing and when i went on the effexor i had a constant
stream of negative self talk going on that i have no idea where it came
from. it was so strong and so severe that it was almost impossible to
beat. i truly feel lucky to be alive after dealing with that. i can
honestly say it was close. and as soon as i came off it all of that
stopped and i am so thankful. i then began to read more about this and
was shocked to find that it has been accountable for many
deaths/suicides and that especially in children it significantly
increases the suicide rate. i think this is often overlooked because
"hey the person was crazy anyway or they wouldnt have been on it in the
first place" attitude. but we are talking about messing with brain
chemistry and im telling everyone who is thinking about this particular
drug to be extremely careful PLEASE.
