Re: DIETFrom: Sonnet (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 16 Jul 2003 10:59:12 -0500 (CDT)
Yeah it's pretty amazing and a total surprise to me every time I get on the scale! My whole life up until this point it was more like, work hard, weigh, and find out I'd gained weight - so doing nothing and finding out I'm losing is pretty cool! Not like I've got this petite and girlish figure, I currently weigh over 300lbs still, but what an improvement. The best part about it, actually, is knowing that it's not the dieting or excercise that did it. It is REALLY a nice feeling to know that yes, there was obviously something really wrong with my metabolism, and it WASN'T (no matter HOW many times I heard it from doctors and my mother and so on) that I was cheating on my diets or was lazy. I knew it!! lol. I just needed the medication to fix what was wrong with my body's response to blood sugar, and then things fell into place! I was on 1500mg/day before (with some good results, no weight loss though) and am now on 3000mg/day. I'm lucky to have had an endo that really believed that was the best dose for me as it is above the maximum recommended dose from the manufacturer, which is 2550mg. (I've been regularly checked for liver function and kidney function and everything else under the sun on this dose for like 18 months now and my body handles it GREAT, no problems at all.) As I said before, I think everyone is different with their needs as far as medications, doses, and lifestyle stuff is concerned. It sounds like you're already doing great at 1000mg! Congrats to YOU and gl!
