i would definitely see a doctor. i would start with an ob/gyn. i was diagnosed at 17 when i was 5'6" and weighed 110 lbs. my only complaint at that point was irregular cycles and some breakthrough bleeding and occasional pain during sex.(these i figured i could live with) but at that point nobody told me that this was progressive and it was basically dismissed. i thought "great no periods" and boy were my friends were jealous! now 15 years later i am 185 lbs and been through hell and back. i have been diagnosed with everything from depression, anxiety, gone through bouts of completely debilitating migraines, infertility, been put on so many meds which really made things worse and all the while nobody thought anything more about the pcos as a factor. because once these other symptoms begin to surface specialists are consulted and rarely do they look at the big picture as their focus is so narrow (hence "specialist"). so you begin treatments for all the symptoms of one blanket disorder. from my experience i feel that once a woman is diagnosed with pcos and dismisses it you are really opening yourself up as a guinea pig for the doctors to have a field day. if i had it to do over i would keep pcos as my main focus health wise and remember to ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS trust your gut instinct about your doctor/treatment/meds, etc. i do know however that this is easier said than done because after a while you begin to wonder if you are just completely crazy. the psychological side effects can be worse than the physical. good luck, stick to your guns, and find a good doc who will LISTEN to you.
