Glucophage is the original. Metformin is the generic version of Glucophage that was just put out on the market in the past year here in the US. I tried Metformin and it does absolutely nothing for me. My IR symptoms only stay under control with Glucophage. Even though it costs me more co-pay, I stick with the original, Glucophage. Personally, in my experience, I do not believe they are exactly the same, although they are supposed to be.

Some have much success on Met. Some don't. It's a matter of personal needs.
