OK-I had my second endo opinion last week and she just called me this afternoon. My first fasting insulin level was 116; this one was 3 (I'm not on any meds at all yet). She is confused and said that many times with insulin resistance it will not show up consistently. We were ttc but now have had some things come up and do not want that right now. She left it up to me whether to start on metformin or not. I have the weight gain and the hair and the absent periods and the tiredness. I do not want to run the risk of getting pregnant and she wants to see if my periods will start up if I take metformin. We decided on the phone that I would just talk to my GYN and start up on birth control pills again, but now I am wondering if that is not such a good idea. If I really am insulin resistant then I will be running the risk of getting diabetes if I don't take care of it and if I do take the met and that helps then I wil be running the risk of getting pregnant which will really not be good right now. Any suggestsions would be great!

Thanks so much, Alyssa:-)
