almost regular periodsFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 8 Jul 2003 14:52:39 -0500 (CDT)
I was diagnosed with PCOS by an endocronologist when I was 25. I was not overweight, but I had irregular periods and acne. They tested my hormone levels and did an ultrasound and came up with the diagnosis. I am now 31 and for the first time in my life my periods are almost regular. I think I've had one every month for the past year. It's not exactly to the day, but fairly close. I'm also experiencing for the first time in my life, PMS. It really feels like I have a normal cycle. I'm wondering if I'm suddenly cured? Or if I was misdiagnosed? Is it common for women with PCOS to all of a sudden get a regular cycle? I'm not on any medication (no BCPs, etc.). I was thinking maybe my rigorous exercise program could have something to do with it. As I said, I was never overweight, but I've recently taken up running and weightlifting as hobbies, so my bodyfat percentage is probably much lower now than when I was 25. Just wondering if anyone has any insights. Thanks!
