Understanding medical articles

I have taken to reading medical articles rather a lot and I do struggle with the terms and so on. Like when they give 2 different figures for everything I'm sure this is some difference in analysis, but I don't know what. I'm sure I read something a while back, about how there was a PCOS conference coming up and someone- was it Renee? doing a presentation on how to understand some aspects of medical articles so you can better discuss (argue?!)treatments with your doc? I just wondered if the notes to this were ever posted anywhere?! I know this is a bit of a stretch! Does anyone know what I am talking about?
