I don't know if it is the cause, but was not IR when I was your age. I was not tested for testosterone at that time, but I did have and still do have big calves from exercise. The testosterone comes in with not having periods from what I understand. Unfortunately, the added testosterone is the thing that caused me to have hypertension in my late 30's. When I was diagnosed with hypertension, I was shocked. I never smoked or drank. I had been diagnosed with PCOS 10 years prior, but never knew what it did to your body. When I was diagnosed with hypertension, I discovered it was from the PCOS. I don't know how to get rid of it, but it is not good to have too much in a woman's body and it causes problems. Good luck.
