Re: Does anyone have PCOS without Insulin Resistance? From: Rita (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Jun 2003 22:58:44 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Laura, I also have PCOS without insulin resistance. I had high testosterone levels(110), irregular periods, ovarian cysts, acne, hair loss and facial hair growth. I am currently taking Metformin and Spironolactone. I have been taking Met since March and Spironolactone since May. I now have regular periods. My testosterone was 40 last time it was checked. I recently loss 145 pounds. I was not diagnosed until after I had lost 120 pounds. I believe that I may have been insulin resistant before the weight loss and exercise. I have a strong family history of type ll Diabetes. I hope to avoid it. I feel so much better since I began taking the Metformin. I would like to know if there are others taking Metformin without Insulin resistance??? Rita
