switched to progesterone and feel pregnant!!From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 29 Jun 2003 01:54:10 -0500 (CDT)
about 2 months ago, my ob-gyn switched me from ortho-tricyclen (which i have been on for 6 years) to a purely progesterone-based birth control. She explained to me why she did this in a very ambiguous way, and i'm still not sure what made me need the switch. However, now i'm over two weeks late, and have severe nausea in the early morning and late evenings. It feels like pregnancy, but two home pregnancy tests have come back negative. i've started taking the pills in the morning, because i've heard that taking them late at night tends to cause nausea, but still suffer with nausea every day. I looked into ectopic pregnancy sites, and they all say that i should be experiencing side-specific abdominal pain or bleeding, which i am not. I think that pregnancy tests are progesterone based, so i'm wondering if my pills could be interfering with the test results. Can this happen? Also, i'm going in two weeks to have my thyroid evaluated because my family doctor believes me to have hypothyroidism. Could my progesterone pills effect the results of this test? do i need to stop taking them prior to the thyroid test? Sorry for posting two questions, but i need answers FAST!!!
