Heather,

I am so sorry your doctor treated you that way. I too have had similar problems with my healthcare "professional" - - after pouring my heart out about my weight...I was told to consider having gastro-intestional by-pass surgery! My doctor did not listen, or believe, a word I said about what little food I was eating and how much I was excercising! Truth is...I was eating so few calories it was unhealthy...so the SIZE of my appetite was not the problem.

I found a new doctor. She listened. She believed. And now she is working WITH me...I am now on Metformin, finally, and am watching the amount of Carbs I intake. I'm not living on ice chips and tic-tacs anymore - - and so far I have lost 17 lbs. The weight is coming off at about 2 - 3 pounds a week. I would love for it to drop off a lot faster...but 2 - 3 pounds is OKAY with ME!

I hope the meds work for you...I understand they vary from person to person, but they have made a difference for me. At first there were some "interesting" side effects...but after a couple days I felt much better.

Take care,
