When should I start taking fertility drugs?

I am getting married next May and I want to have a child ASAP. I am 23 years old (24 on July 5th) and I know I should try to have kids now instead of later because the chance of conceiving later with PCOS is slim to none. I was thinking of starting the fertility drugs in the beginning months of 2004. How long did it take you guys to get pregnant after starting them? I already take 1500mg of metformin a day but I have yet to ovulate on my own, at least I don't think I have. I have been on metformin for over two years now. What fertility drugs have you taken? Should I try Clomid or something else? Any feedback would be appreciated.
