Re: AcupunctureFrom: Heidi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 18 Jun 2003 16:06:45 -0500 (CDT)
Hi...I live in Northern California and have been going to an acupuncturist and naturopath for a couple of months specifically for bringing balance back to my body with regard to PCOS. I tried to self-diagnose herbs and vitamins from reading about PCOS but got nausea and stuff. I'm not all floaty and 'out there', I'm quite skeptical actually. Even with conventional/traditional medicine such as glucophage, etc. I don't know what's best but I'm giving my body 6 months to tell me how it's going to respond to natural methods before dosing it out with heavy drugs. Though I will do that as a later resort if necessary. As far as the acupuncture, I was uncomfortable at first but have eased into it with each time I go back. And I DESPISE needles. But these are little needles that aren't designed to extract anything... I've lost over 20 pounds with the acupunture, and vitamins guided by naturopath and I eat a diet with whole grain carbs with a protien, organically (meat and veggies), no dairy, almost NO sugar and so on. I really like how I feel. No side effects like I've gotten with provera and clomid. With the acupuncture, try and keep and open mind. The needles are meant to stimulate meridians and encourage a balance of energy flow. I know it takes a leap of faith...you may not like it but at least you tried it! He'll most likely give you some herbs as well.
