Acupuncture

I've heard several people say that they'd tried acupuncture for various reasons, including PCOS stuff, and that they had great results. I'll be going to California tomorrow for a week for my uncle's wedding, and my mom made an appointment for me at an acupuncturist there that my uncle has used and really loved. Now, i'm all for holistic/natural medicines and everything, so i'm not trying to be negative, but I just don't understand how sticking a bunch of needles in your body can have such positive effects. I kind of want to try it, because i'm kind of desperate for help at this point, but I also HATE needles and get really freaked out when I need to get blood taken or shots, so I don't know how i'll ever deal with having a million needles in my body at once, but we'll see... Can anyone give me some info about this? Thank you -rebecca
