Androgen blockers for hairloss/Progesterone cream...

Howdy all. Lately i've been losing a lot of my hair again, and that freaked me out a lot, so I called my endocrinologist and she prescribed this medicine that's supposed to be an androgen blocker or something and (I think?) prevent an excess of male hormones (which I have) so my hair doesn't fall out. I'm just curious if anyone else has ever tried this, and if so, if there are any side affects (particularly weight gain--that's my biggest issue right now). My doc said that it's a diuretic, so I'd have to drink a lot of water, but that's the only side affect she mentioned. She didn't mention weight gain, but even if she said that wasn't a possible side affect, I don't know If i'd trust her, since that's what she told me when I started taking birth control, and that was the biggest lie i've ever heard. So I just wanted anyone's opinions who has tried it or heard of it. I'm also interested in progesterone cream, since someone mentioned that that helped for hair growth. Is that something i'd need a prescription for, or something that's readily available in most pharmacies? And what *exactly* is it that makes it do what it does? And is it just a cream that you put on your hair or something?? Any info would be great!!! Thanks a lot! -rebecca
