PCOS & Walking! (not pushing weight loss...just a personal view) LONGFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 16 Jun 2003 14:50:53 -0500 (CDT)
Ladies, I too struggle with the unwanted pounds. I dont always eat what I should, and I, like you, have a hard time shedding pounds even when I do eat right. But one thing I have found helps me so much ( my moods and jittery sugar ups n downs the most) is simple WALKING! I know you can do whatever exercise you wish...and i know alot of ladies on here do just that (working out whatnot), but for those of you who loathe getting to a gym or anything of the like I really truly advocate walking. I walk an hour or more a day...(I live in the country so I take advantage of the dirt roads). I started out going as slow as possible. I didnt care...I still go slow on days when I dont have much energy. But let me tell you..it makes you feel energized...I look forward to it. It helped me shed 15 lbs in 2-3 months and it made a dramatic difference in my mood swings. I also think it helps stabalize sugar and insulin problems by making muscles work with insulin much more efficiently! (I can tell when my body is acting the way it should in regards to this). I too think weight gain is a SYMPTOM, not the reason for PCOS, but something as simple as walking makes a BIG difference in my life..so i thought I would share that with you all. Hope this helps and God bless! :D:D:D
