Anyone have this? - Q about bleeding and Prometrium

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 1998, and while I was relieved to know WHY I was an 'odd ball' all my life, compared to other people, the fact that it is just something you "suffer and move on with" gets me down sometimes. - Know I am not alone in that!

My question is, since January 6, 2003, instead of no period, I haven't been able to STOP my period. I have been bleeding steadily since then. The BC pills I have been on haven't stopped it - they just *increase* the constant low-high level cramping and pain. About 2 months ago, I was given Prometrium, and instead of stopping the bleeding, I thought I was going to bleed to death. I can't even tell you how heavy and painful it was. I called my doctor after 4 days, and then I was put on BC Pills 3x day for one week, then 2xday one week, and down to 1xday. The bleeding really slowed to very light spotting when I was taking 3x a day but my pain increased monumentally. 2x a day, the bleeding increased a bit, but still had pain. I am now down to 1x a day, and I am back to bleeding lightly and steadily, with a tolerable level of constant pain. On top of this, my mood swings are terrible. Sometimes I can't even stand myself. I do meditation and yoga, to try and calm myself, but it doesn't last long.

I just had another dr appt, to have a cervical pap (I have been dealing with cervical dyslpasia and carcinoma in situ this past two years). I thought I should be checked for endometriosis, but he just gave me a different birth control pill to try.

Is this a typical thing in a lifetime of PCOS, or should I stamp my feet and demand a test for endo?

Thanks for any advice. You can email me at kristal@ist.psu.edu.
