Re: PCOS, Atkins and hair loss.From: Tammy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 10 Jun 2003 14:32:08 -0500 (CDT)
Hi! I am new to PCOS myself and was lead to the Atkins diet by my physician. I have only been on the diet for two weeks but have lost 16 pounds. I also stopped all caffeine (Oh my goodness...the first three days were horrible) and I cannot believe how much better I feel. Of course, I was depending on caffeine to give me energy because I was just dead tired all the time. I had no energy at all. I have to admit, I am feeling better. I don't know if it is the Atkins Diet, drinking 64 oz of water a day instead of diet cokes, no caffeine in my body AT ALL, or the Metformin(taking for about two weeks now) that is making me feel better - - or maybe a combination of all. But I dont crash on the couch the moment I get home from work anymore...I actually have enough energy to do Pilates and Tae Bo. I can't believe it. I wish I had an answer on the hair loss myself. I have some very sparse spots as well, and used to have very very thick hair. It was the ONLY physical characteristic I felt good about...now I am always checking my hair to see of the thinning spots are visible. I know how you feel - - hope everything works out for you!
