Hi Leigh Ann,

I didn't see that show (I'm in Manila), but I am not at all surprised. Sleep or lack of it affects every body system. I have a friend who is attending a weight loss clinic (in Hong Kong). The doctors there tell her (and she has observed, including for herself) that people who do not get enough sleep (and who are under stress)do not lose weight even when following a plan and exercise strictly, as those who get enough sleep. Seems that sleep really is important.

Another thing I read recently was that exposure to too much light (artificial) can also send our hormones out of wack. It is especially critical for some sea animals (artificial lights upset them very badly - including their breeding) and more recent research seems to indicate humans are at least affected by - though to what extent is still being determined.

So we should all try to sleep more - in dark rooms.
