PCOS, Infertility and PregnacyFrom: Leandra (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 9 Jun 2003 11:53:56 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, While single between 1998 & 1999 I went through a time of irregular periods, and I was told to had PCOS. I went through the BCP treatment for 3 months, and it's been 2 years and my period has been regular ever since. The treatmet occurred in late 2000, which is the year I got married, and after I stopped the BCP, and with my period being regular, I have not gotten pregnant since then, but it's not like we've tried until recently. We went to the doctor to get evaluated for infertility, I had an HSG done and came out normal, both tubes are open. My husband had the semen analysis done, but the sperm count came out low. My questions are the following: 1. given that I'm getting my periods every month (therefore ovulating regularly), would this indicate that my PCOS is gone? Is the regular ovulation indicative that I don't have PCOS anymore or are there other factors that need to be considered? 2. My husbands sperm count was low, but could it be the only reason why I haven't become pregnant? Could it be related to PCOS even if I'm ovulating regularly? Thanks in advance for any input.
