Just diagnosed. Do I really have it?

Hello everyone, I recently went to an endocronologist because of episodes with my blood sugar. I am currently 28 and was diagnosed as hypoglycemic five years ago after taking a glucose tolerance test. I took this test because I would have episodes where I experienced strong feelings of weakness like I was going to pass out. I would sweat heavily, feel like I couldn't breathe and would shake like crazy. It used to only happen once in a while, but this past year, it started happening weekly. I first went to a regular MD and was told I was having panic attacks and put on a new anti-depressant called Lexapro. A few days after taking it, I ended up in the hospital with my already unpleasant symptoms magnified to where I thought I was truly going to die. The doctors did not know what was wrong with me. So they gave me Xanax. I felt like I was going crazy. I knew what panic attacks were, I believe I may have had some in the past, but what I was experiencing now was extremely different. I took matters into my own hands and called an endocronologist because I thought maybe I was becoming diabetic or maybe my hypoglycemia was getting worse and these doctors just weren't picking up on it. After waiting two miserable months for my appointment, it finally came and this doctor was amazing. She brought up PCOS and I never heard of it before. She started asking me questions about other problems I was having that I guess I had just accepted and didn't relate it to my current episodes. She asked how long I have been overweight...It's been about 10 years now; a slow progression after I stopped playing all the sports I used to play in highschool. I just thought the weight gain was my fault- even though I didn't feel I ate much different than most other people who did not have a weight problem. Than she asked the fertility question...I have been married two years now and although we haven't tried getting pregnant in the sense where we monitor ovulation or anything, we have been active without any form of birth control and nothing has happened. My GYN said it shouldn't be a concern until we at like four years without conception. So I figured I would just let nature take its course and not worry about it. But as far as the other symptoms of PCOS, I don't really have them. I don't really have the excess hair growth, or hair loss that I have been reading a lot about. I do menstruate pretty regularly, although this past year I have been late quite a few times and even thought I may have been pregnant a few times. I had blood work done and my testostorone levels were high. She said the norm for women was around 40 and mine was 82. My fasting glucose level was in the 90's which seems to be good. I have been put on glucophage and spironolact. I just am hoping I am doing the right thing and that PCOS is the correct diagnosis. I have become quite sceptical with the medical world. I have been miserable for quite a long time now and have been in and out of doctor's offices and don't know who to believe anymore. Since my trip to the emergency room I have been afraid of medication and am nervous taking these prescriptions. I have been reading everything I can on the internet about PCOS and I relate in some ways, but I still have not heard a story of anyone who experienced the episodes I have. I have read about the insulin problems PCOS can cause and I am thinking maybe that is my problem. I am not sure. Can anyone relate to my story and any advise on whether or not you think I was diagnosed correctly or on the medication I am taking, would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you very much, Christine
