Re: Help! How do you find a doctor who will treat PCOS?From: Sonnet (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 5 Jun 2003 20:16:49 -0500 (CDT)
Your doctor is doing you a disservice by sending you off with progesterone and orders to lose weight!! Many women with PCOS see an endocrinologist, or even more specifically sometimes a reproductive endocrinologist. PCOS is a disorder of the endocrine system, and NOT simply a disease of the female reproductive system - hence the endo instead of the gyn. There are definitely some gyns who know a lot about PCOS and are perfectly well qualified to treat this but the endos are the apecialists. Either way, here's a link to some Denver doctors who are profesional members of the PCOS Association. (That doesn't automatically mean they'll be great doctors, but one can assume taht by taking the time to become members, they must care about PCOS, right?) Hope it helps! http://www.pcosupport.org/membership/professionals.php#Colorado
